We’re pleased to announce that we have added Eircode data to our address validation solutions. Eircode is Ireland's national address database.

Eircode is Ireland's national postcode system and has been designed to identify every individual property in the country, no matter how small or large, rural or urban. It uniquely identifies any property in Ireland, including houses, apartments and commercial premises. An Eircode is different to the UK postcode, it is a seven character alpha-numeric code and is made up of two parts, a Routing Key, and a Unique Identifier. Read Eircode’s guide about this format.

The system was introduced in 2015 to help improve the efficiency of Ireland's postal services, and it has been a key factor in the country's success in transitioning to an all-digital postal service.

Language Options

Our solution works with either English, Gaelic or both languages.

Complete Property Data

We provide both Eircode Address File (ECAF) and Eircode Address Database (ECAD).

ECAF is the basic address file which includes 2.2 million address points. ECAD contains the complete address file along with additional address data such as geocoordinates and the below data points.

Alias Data

We’ve also incorporated Eircode Alias addresses. Alias addresses are properties which have additional address characteristics, such as an alternative name or a pseudonym. This is a fantastic feature, as fuzzy address search may not capture a number of unique misspelled building names. Fuzzy address search is a smart search functionality which corrects spelling mistakes in real time. However, a computer cannot understand an address, so we’ve added Alias data to easily find every alternate name for buildings and building groups.
