A cleaner checkout experience for Shopify Plus merchants

We've rebuilt our Shopify app to use Shopify's native Address Autocomplete API. For Shopify Plus merchants on Checkout Extensibility, address suggestions now appear inside Shopify's own checkout fields.
Previously, our app added a custom search box on top of the checkout. That optionstill works well for many stores, but the native integration is faster, looks cleaner, and is a built-in part of the checkout.
TL;DR: Ideal Postcodes' Shopify app now supports Shopify's native Address Autocomplete API. Available to Shopify Plus merchants using Checkout Extensibility, suggestions appear inside Shopify's own address fields at checkout and populate line 1, city, and postcode together. The native integration is faster and visually cleaner than the previous overlay approach.
What's new in the app
Most address finders on Shopify have historically worked by overlaying a custom search box on top of the checkout. It's a proven approach, but it can feel like a separate tool sitting on top of the page rather than part of the checkout itself.
The native autocomplete integration is available for Shopify Plus merchants using Checkout Extensibility. It focuses on how suggestions appear and how quickly they turn into a completed address.
Autocomplete inside Shopify's own address fields. Suggestions now appear within the address inputs Shopify already renders, rather than through a separate search box layered on top. Selecting a suggestion populates line 1, city, and postcode together, in a single step.
A faster, cleaner experience for shoppers. Because the autocomplete uses Shopify's own field rendering, it inherits Shopify's keyboard behaviour, accessibility handling, and styling. That means one fewer visual element competing for attention at checkout, faster address entry (particularly on mobile, where overlays can be awkward), and a more familiar experience across Shopify stores.

Other updates in this release
Alongside the native autocomplete, the app continues to offer a range of address quality tools:
-
Postcode lookup at checkout: An optional postcode search above the delivery form for GB, IE, SG, and NL. Buyers enter a postcode, pick their address, and the form fills with no extra lookup cost.
-
Address blocking: Configurable intercepts stop undeliverable addresses before payment: PO Boxes, military addresses (APO/BFPO), US private mailboxes, highway contract routes, and non-contiguous US states, plus special-character and line-length checks.
-
Address transforms: Selected addresses pass through the same pipeline as before: company name fill or removal, line truncation to carrier limits, and transliteration of accented characters.
-
Classic search box retained: Stores that prefer the previous search-box finder can keep it via a settings toggle; existing installs stay on it until switched.
Get started
If you already use our Shopify app, updating to the latest version gives you access to the native autocomplete option. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Checkout, then click Edit next to your checkout configuration. In the checkout editor, open the settings sidebar and find the Address autocompletion section, then select Ideal Postcodes as the provider. Checkout Extensibility is required for this step.

If this is your first time integrating our app with Shopify, our Shopify address autocomplete documentation walks you through installation. You can also find the Ideal Postcodes One- Step Address Validatior app on the Shopify App Store.
