The extension is built natively within the platform, meaning no additional software or complex configuration is required. *This will be shipped to all Business Central users in the UK and Republic of Ireland by default in release 28. * - New customers get Business Central version 28.0 automatically. - Existing customers are notified when update 28.0 is available. Admins can schedule update 28.0 to any date within the 5-month update period, which ends on August 31, 2026. The extension works across all address fields, whether you're updating customer records, creating quotes, or processing orders. Enabling the address validation feature takes only a few clicks. You'll find the extension under Service Connections in Business Central settings, where you simply add your Ideal Postcodes API key to get started. Going forward, this will be co-maintained and supported by both Microsoft and Ideal Postcodes.   ![Screenshot 2026-04-08 at 11-47-29](https://blog.ideal-postcodes.co.uk/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot%202026-04-08%20at%2011-47-29.png?width=470&height=187&name=Screenshot%202026-04-08%20at%2011-47-29.png) ## If you were using GetAddress.io If you relied on the GetAddress.io extension in Business Central, postcode lookup may have stopped working following GetAddress's service discontinuation on 4 February 2026. Microsoft will retire this extension, at which point you will need a replacement in place. The Ideal Postcodes extension is available now and already trusted by thousands of businesses. We license our data directly from Royal Mail's Postcode Address File (PAF), one of the most comprehensive and accurate sources of [UK address data available](https://ideal-postcodes.co.uk/uk-address-datasets), covering over 30 million UK delivery points and 1.8 million postcodes.   ## Why address quality is essential in Business Central Address data in Business Central flows through sales orders, purchase orders, customer profiles, and shipping documents. An incorrect address can create mismatches across those records, which takes time to resolve. Address validation helps prevent those errors at the point of entry. When a user enters a postcode, the extension verifies and returns a list of matching addresses to select from, and the address fields populate automatically in the correct format. ![Screenshot 2026-04-08 at 11.53.18](https://blog.ideal-postcodes.co.uk/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot%202026-04-08%20at%2011.53.18.png?width=701&height=377&name=Screenshot%202026-04-08%20at%2011.53.18.png) ## What you get with the Ideal Postcodes extension - **Accurate UK address data** sourced from Royal Mail's PAF and Ordnance Survey - **Fast UK postcode lookup** that works within your existing Business Central interface - **Fuzzy matching** that suggests the nearest matching postcode if an unrecognised postcode is entered - **Correct address formatting** across all standard address fields - **Reliable uptime** backed by Ideal Postcodes' infrastructure - **Straightforward pricing** with no hidden fees   ## Getting started 1.
